Who is Arch-Well Target?

Arch-Well targets are made in Germany and the most common used archery targets at European Archery Clubs. They have been making archery targets for over 20 years. The list of clubs that are using their targets reads like the who is who of European archery.

What are they capable off?

Stopping Power

Arch-Well targets are made of ultra high quality polyethylene foam layers. The layers are sandwiched to provide the best compromise between stopping power, lifespan and ease of arrow retrieval. They are rated for up to 60lbs Compound arrows at indoor target distance of only 18m!

Weather

They are weather proof and can stay outside summer and winter. For UV protection we suggest to cover them with a tarp as the sun will eventually destroy the foam.

Arrows

Many archery targets have the problem that the material melts on to arrow shafts, the problem usually increases with speed. But due to the high quality material it is very rare that foam remains on an arrow shaft and the few times it does happen it is very easy removable. A massive improvement over stramit or similar material targets.

Arrow-whip: This is an effect that can cause an arrow to break and it is caused by very dense archery targets when the arrow is forced to shift direction away from the angle it arrives in. The foam layer system with various densities of the Arch-Well targets ensures that each arrow is slowed down slowly.

What’s the story about that replaceable core?

The target version we stock has a 40cm replaceable round core at the centre. Once its shot out it can be removed and a fresh 40cm core can be inserted. We will stock the cores for customers that have purchased this target from us. Please contact us by email or phone when you need to replace it. Replacement cores are $175 and we hold them for customers that have bought this target.

Do you use it yourself?

Yes, the majority of archery targets at the Archery Park Nelson target range are now this exact model.

So, this is the best target there is?

Yes and no! It depends on your use. These are designed for heavy usage as it happens on a target archery range or by someone that trains regularly at home. As a result they are fairly dense and compared to a 3D archery target it is more difficult to pull out arrows. But they will last more shots then a 3D target. Arrow lube can make it easier to pull your arrow, but will reduce stopping power.

There are also these rare arrows that have a much wider tip diameter then the arrow shaft. If the target is wet and such an arrow is shot from a powerful bow there is a slim chance of an arrow shooting through the target.
